School property was destroyed during a fire outbreak at Chebwagan Boys Secondary School in Buret, Kericho County.
The Zachary Mutuiri said his office and various investigations agencies are probing the cause of the fire.
The fire gutted down a dormitory at the school which was housing over 113 students. Students escaped unhurt.
Speaking when he visited the school to assess the damage, Mutwiri said parents of those culpable will meet the costs of reconstruction of dormitory once investigations are concluded.
The school Board of Management chairman Peter Bett appealed to the well-wishers to donate mattresses, blankets and beds saying students personal effects were not salvaged during the fire incident at school.
“Nothing was salvaged during the fire incident. So we need assistance from well-wishers so that normalcy resumes as soon as possible,” said Bett.
Litein Ward Member of County Assembly Mr Alex Bett has urged the county administration to establish a fire station in Litein town.
Bett said property worth millions of shillings has been destroyed due lack of equipment for putting out fires.
Meanwhile, Mutwiri has revealed that over 85 per cent of candidates who sat last year’s Kenya Certificate of Primary Education exam in Kericho County have joined secondary schools.
