Black smoke continues to cloud the release of promotion letters to the successful teachers as exit of TSC boss from the upper hill nears.
Education news has authoritatively learnt that the rejection of the exercise by the National assembly has pushed the commission’s boss to brick wall to an extent of thinking otherwise about the whole exercise.
Insiders have it that TSC CEO is walking on a tight rope over the issue which if undertaken contrary to the national assembly advice. It is likely wrecking the smooth retirement exit plan of Dr. Nancy Macharia.
The lawmakers led by Education committee chair, Julius Melly castigated the manner in which the promotions were done. Speaking in various forums, Melly wondered how TSC would promote teachers within a year while some have stagnated over eight years in the same job group.

Melly and other interested stakeholders further wondered how newly employed teachers entered the promotion list as their seniors were left out. The parliamentary Education committee has so far termed the whole process as unfair, unjust and not good for Kenyan teacher. Speaking in Baringo County over the weekend, Melly was categorical that the process was stopped as it never met the expectations.
Education news has also learnt that the issue is beginning to taint the ten years of the exiting CEO who has always been enumerating her achievements since she stepped at the upper hill head office. Should the process be written off, many observers feel that Dr Macharia’s reception to the public would be dented and any other future assignment wouldn’t be guaranteed.
As the delay in the release of promotion letters persist, all is not well at the sub county and county offices across the country.
Teachers who were already in the celebratory mood after being successful, are incessantly calling and thronging the TSC offices trying to know the status of their promotional letters. Efforts by Education news to get comments from various TSC officials on the state of stalemate was unsuccessful.
