Fate of location of proposed Nyamira University to be known this Wednesday

Kisii University Vice Chancellor (VC) Professor Nathan Ogechi has said that he is waiting for the final recommendation report from his visibility study team on Wednesday this week to determine the location of the proposed university in Nyamira County.

He is that after receiving the report he will hand it over to Senate to give direction on the matter.

He said, “When this report will be handed to me I will forward it to the senate who will advise us accordingly.”

He was speaking in a church function attended by cabinet secretaries for Education Ezekiel Machogu and Cooperatives and Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Development Simon Chelugui.

On his part, while speaking at Nyabworoba Church and Igonga Catholic Church in Kitutu Chache North and Bonchari constituencies, Machogu called for unity from all Gusii elected leaders to enable them have strength of supporting the Government of the day for more development in the region.

While at Tente SDA Conference in Nyamira, Machogu said that Kenya Kwanza Government under the leadership of President Ruto will continue to invest heavily in transforming education, energy, transport and agriculture among other sectors for the benefit of the common mwananchi.

He lauded Nyamira for embracing modern methods of farming to enable them get good farm yields for sale to educate their children.

“I have brought my friend CS for cooperatives here to assure you on the government’s joint effort to improve our overall farming by join cooperatives to help them bargain for better prices of their farm produce,” he said.

Chelugui noted that his ministry has earmarked KSh41 million and KSh30 million for Nyamira and Kisii to help farmers revive and develop coffee farming.

“We realised that you people are industrious and want to support you in improving coffee farming to enable you fend your families,’ he said.

The Cabinet Secretaries were flanked by many elected and nominated Members from both counties who included Chief Whip Sylivanus Osoro, Japhet Nyakundi (Kitutu Chache North), Steve Mogaka (West Mogirango), Joash Nyamoko  (North Mogirango), Charles Onchoke (Bonchari), Doris Aburi and Jerusah Momanyi, the Woman Reps for Nyamira and Kisii counties.

Also Nyamira County Deputy Governor Dr James Gesami was present.
