Schools in West Kabras ward of Malava constituency are set for a major uplift after presidential aide Farouk Kibet promised sustained support to improve learning facilities and create a conducive environment for pupils.

Kibet made the pledge at Mutsuma Primary grounds, where he was chief guest during a special prayer session for United Democratic Alliance (UDA) nominee Elphas Shalakha, ahead of the West Kabras MCA by‑election scheduled for February 26, 2026.

Kibet said education remains the greatest gift to children, bridging social divides and offering equal opportunities. He revealed that he has already supported more than 10 schools in the constituency and intends to begin with the most needy institutions before extending assistance to other regions.

Kibet also raised concerns over safety after learning that Mutsuma Primary had allowed a swarm of bees to occupy its office without containment measures. He cautioned parents and teachers against neglecting pupil security, stressing that such hazards posed serious risks.

During the event, Kibet donated KSh 1 million to Mutsuma Secondary School for land expansion and KSh 250,000 to the primary section. Additional contributions included KSh 100,000 each from Higher Education Principal Secretary Dr. Beatrice Inyangala and Malava MP David Ndakwa, bringing the total to KSh 450,000 for renovation of 10 condemned classrooms.

Ndakwa, while addressing the gathering, warned school managers against misusing development funds. He cited cases where KSh 1.538 million allocated for infrastructure had been poorly utilised, vowing stern action against mismanagement. He promised to reward schools that spend their allocations responsibly and pledged to mobilise more partners to raise education standards in the constituency.

Dr. Inyangala reaffirmed the government’s commitment to education, noting that President William Ruto’s administration had increased the national education budget from KSh 500 billion to KSh 790 billion. She said the government aims to guarantee quality learning from primary schools to technical colleges, where fees for trainees are already being covered.
