Ex-street boy’s dream comes true as he joins Mang’u High

By James Wakahiu

A former Nanyuki street boy’s dreams of joining a premier secondary school have been realised with his admission to Mang’u High School.
Abraham Kairu, 15, who scored 400 marks, was included in Kenyatta Trust’s list of 50 students from the needy family background after Laikipia Women Representative Catherine Waruguru took up his case and organised for his sponsorship.
An elated Kairu could not hide his joy as he went through the mandatory protocol to join this prestigious school.
He wishes to pursue aviation course upon the completion of Form Four.
Kairu has been surviving from begging as his mother could not afford to provide even the most of basics needs such as food and shelter.
Waruguru was forced to arrange for his adoption by a foster guardian, Charity Wairimu.
Kairu will be in the custody of his guardian until he finishes schooling.
Dr Susan Mwanzia of the Kenyatta Trust assured the beneficiary that the organisation has offered him full scholarship on condition that he worked hard in class.
