Former Kenya Secondary School Heads Association (KESSHA) chairman Kahi Indimuli has announced his intention to contest the Vihiga County governorship in the 2027 General Election.
Speaking during a colourful homecoming ceremony held at Mbale Municipal Grounds, Indimuli said his 38 years of service in the education sector had equipped him with the leadership skills and vision needed to transform the county. He noted that his career had involved serving in various leadership capacities, both at the school and national levels, providing him with a broad understanding of governance, administration, and public service delivery.
“I have served this nation in education for nearly four decades. That experience, coupled with the leadership responsibilities I have held over the years, gives me the capacity to steer Vihiga County towards meaningful and rapid development,” Indimuli told the crowd, which included local leaders, professionals, and residents.

Indimuli served as KESSHA chair for several years, representing the interests of secondary school heads across the country and engaging with the Ministry of Education on policy formulation and implementation. His tenure was marked by advocacy for teacher welfare, improved learning environments, and reforms to strengthen the quality of education.
At the homecoming event, attended by hundreds, supporters praised Indimuli’s leadership style and track record. Several local leaders described him as a “visionary” with a deep understanding of community needs, while residents expressed optimism that his experience could translate into tangible progress in the county.
The declaration sets the stage for what is expected to be a competitive race for the governorship, with Vihiga County politics traditionally attracting high-profile candidates. Indimuli’s entry is likely to draw attention both locally and nationally, given his prominence in the education sector.
As the 2027 election approaches, Indimuli said he would focus on engaging with communities across Vihiga to understand their priorities, promising an inclusive and development-driven agenda.
“I am ready to listen, to lead, and to serve. Together, we can unlock Vihiga’s potential,” he said.
