Equity Bank has donated a water tank to Unoa Primary in Wote Town, Makueni County to address the water problem at the school.

Speaking during the presentation of the tank at Unoa School, the Deputy Governor of Makueni County Lucy Mulili said that a borehole will be drilled on the school premises.

“The County Government would be sending experts to test and find a suitable location for the initiative,” she stated.

Mulili also emphasized the need for resolving the water shortage citing the school’s substantial size and population.

Regarding the request for a school bus by the board and students, she noted that she would engage with the Member of Parliament for the area, as this falls under the purview of the Constituency Development Fund (CDF).

Additionally, Mulili expressed confidence in the preparedness of KCPE and KCSE candidates, wishing them success in their upcoming exams.

The Curriculum Support Officer for Makueni Sub County Isaac Wambua acknowledged the head teacher’s efforts in resolving land disputes, enabling the school to expand and accommodate its high student population.

He also urged parents to ensure the 100 percent transition of their children to high school, emphasizing the importance of education for all.

Equity Bank’s Wote branch manager, Lewis Masila, reiterated the bank’s commitment to supporting bright and underprivileged students, offering scholarships to those who score 350 marks and above.

He encouraged students with 280 marks or more to consider applying for the Elimu scholarship when the time comes.

Nduku Muema, the group manager at Equity Bank, encouraged students to focus on their education despite any challenges at home, reminding them that their parents are making sacrifices to provide them with opportunities.

She further advised financially capable parents to refrain from applying for scholarships meant for those in need.

The school’s Head teacher Winfred Sila shared the school’s aspirations of achieving a mean score of 300 or higher, emphasizing their commitment to quality education.

The school currently has 154 KCPE and 141 KCSE candidates, with a total enrollment of 1347 students.
