Young people have been advised to enroll for technical training to acquire skills which would empower them for employment instead of wasting valuable time seeking for nonexistent white-collar jobs.

According to Anglican clergyman Reverend Antony Gathanju, the government has made heavy investments in establishing middle level tertiary institutions throughout the country.

He pointed the institutes are equipped with training facilities with latest technologies to suit contemporary industrial work places.

He said courses which would provide skills in the work places are being offered at most of the government colleges.

Reverend Gathanju notes most of these institutions are under enrolled as youths shun seeking for admission due to negative attitudes on technical education.

The clergyman argues the employment industry these days is interested to hire people with applicable technical skills for effective production.

He says  the popular so called white collar  public office  jobs  are no longer available in the  country  and argued that youth need to change  their attitudes  and move with  times.

Gathanju who is the chairman of Murang’a Youth Polytechnic Association pointed that the juakali sector is creating job opportunities for young skilled people.

He further told parents to encourage their children to go for technical skills which would enable them to create jobs and income generating ventures.

The chairman added that government is supporting trainees at technical and vocational institutes with tuition fees and HELB loans.

Gathanju detailed these institutions are been facilitated to become centers of excellence in digital and innovation in response to emerging needs in the industries.
