Bomachoge Borabu Member of Parliament (MP) Eng. Obadiah Barongo has urged secondary school leavers not to despise enrolling in Teachers Training Colleges (TTCs) after school.
The MP regretted that most leavers from the area who scored good grades but failed to qualify for University opted to be Boda boda operators.
“I ask the youth to know there are more opportunities in life when you acquire professional training,” he said.
The legislator was speaking at Kenyenya Teachers Training College during this year’s Mashujaa Day celebrations.
He said that the TTC was initiated in the sub county to train youth in the county and the neighbouring communities.
Mr. Obadiah asked P1 teachers to enroll in the college in big numbers to upgrade their certificates so as to be in tune with the changing curriculum.
He challenged the Principal to seek ways of expanding the institution to accommodate mare students and a wider variety of courses.

The MP was accompanied by Kenyenya sub county Deputy County Commissioner Mr. Henry Rotich, area Director of Education Mr. George Ouma and the Deputy OCPD Everlyne Kurgat among other leaders.
On his part Mr. Rotich lauded the College Principal Mrs. Tabitha Mwaniki for steering her students towards live harmoniously with the surrounding community.
The officer asked the residents to make use of the facility by enrolling their children in big numbers.
Elsewhere in Kisii County, Nyungusu Parish Priest James Obaigwa asked parents not to leave their children behind when they attended important public holidays.
“These people learn better by serving and participating. Do not leave them behind during these important days,” he said.
The priest was speaking at the Parish during a special thanks giving to mark Mashujaa Day.
In Bomachoge Chache sub county, Tendere ward MCA James Ondari decried the high rate of teenage pregnancies and appealed to the chiefs and their assistants to arrest adults who abuse school girls.
