In a moving story of resilience and courage, Emmanuel Kipkoech , a young pupil at Cheswerta Primary School in Ndaraweta Ward, Bomet County, has defied all odds to sit for his Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) exams despite a severe physical challenge affecting both his legs.

Emmanuel recently underwent a delicate operation at Kijabe Mission Hospital to correct a condition that had caused his legs to cross together since birth.

The first surgery, done just a month ago, was successful, but doctors have scheduled another one for November 2, 2025, to correct the second leg.

Despite the pain and long recovery process, Emmanuel insisted on joining his classmates for the national exams.

Each morning, a kind Good Samaritan drives him to school and takes him back home in the afternoon after completing his papers, an act that has kept his educational journey on track.

Collins Mutai, a concerned resident, shared more about Emmanuel’s journey and the community’s efforts to support him.

“In August, we held a harambee at his home to raise funds for his surgery at Kijabe Hospital. Unfortunately, we only managed to raise about Sh20,000, which wasn’t enough to cover his travel arrangements and hospital charges,” said Mutai.

He added:“We thank God, however, that the surgery was successful. Another operation is scheduled soon to correct the other leg. We hope well-wishers will come out to support this young, energetic, and hardworking boy who is determined to achieve his dreams.”
