Nakuru County Director of Education Victoria Mulili has urged parents to embrace Edu-Afya in order to provide better health services to their children.

Mulili said the government is committed to providing health care to all Kenyan children across all health facilities accredited by Edu-Afya services.

Speaking at Koelel Forces Academy in Gilgil Sub-county, Mulili urged parents to ensure their children only have students’ identity cards and UPI Numbers for them to access the Edu-Afya services.

“The government is committed to providing health services to school-going children, parents should only have a student ID and UPI number for all children to get better health services through Edu-Afya “, said Mulili.

She highlighted that the services can be provided during normal school days or during April, August, and December holidays to enable the children to have better health care.

Mulili who was accompanied by Gilgil Sub-county Education Officer, also urged parents to spearhead empowerment of boychild education who are currently facing a lot of challenges such as drug and substance abuse that is affecting thousands of school-going children.

The County Director of Education said all stakeholders from various organizations should join hands to fight the vice so that the boy-child can have a future and bright life.

“We don’t want our boys to become spectators of the academic progression, but we want them to be part and parcel of the achievement together with our girls because all of them are our children, And they both deserve better concentration to better their future”, said Victoria.

She urged the parents to intervene and encourage the boy-child to be committed to their academic journey.

“It is the responsibility of parents to rescue our boys from drug and substance abuse, internet, and illness by talking to them positively to transform their lives through molding their characters and mentoring them”, said the Director.

Mulili also told parents to be role models so that they can be emulated by their children.

“Parents should be showing a good example to their children by doing the right things that can be embraced by the children in whatever they are doing at home”, said Mulili.
