Elgeyo Marakwet leaders urge TSC commissioners to confirm Mitei as TSC new CEO

Leaders from Elgeyo Marakwet County have urged the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) Commissioners to confirm the current Acting Chief Executive Officer Eveleen Mitei into the position of the commission’s Chief Executive officer.

Led by Elgeyo Marakwet Deputy Governor Prof.Grace Cheserek the leaders said that Mitei is capable to run the affairs of TSC and serve teachers effectively.

Prof.Cheserek added that Mitei, who has been serving in the acting capacity, has prove that she can managed the affairs of the commission and work smoothly with all staff at the Head office and regional offices.

“We have prove without any doubt that the currently Acting TSC CEO Eveleen Mitei is fit to be fully confirmed as TSC CEO,she  performs her duties with professionalism with all TSC Staffs both at the Head office and in all parts of Kenya,” said Prof. Cheserek.

The leaders were speaking at Metkei Girls Senior School in Elgeyo Marakwet at a event attended by Acting TSC CEO Eveleen Mitei .

Speaking at the same function Acting TSC CEO Eveleen Mitei urged all teachers in Kenya to improve the academic standards in their schools and also give students opportunity to fully participate in  co-curricular activities in order to nurture their talents.

“We encourage our teachers to spearhead moulding all-rounded students who perform well in academic and also fully participate in co-curricular activities,” said Mitei

She urged them to ensure they improve the status of school infrastructure, noting that  good facilities assist in creating a conducive environment for learning for both learners and teachers together with school non-teaching staffs.

“We want to urged our Principals and Headteachers in all schools in the Country that they have a core responsibility of ensuring they improve the status of infrastructure in their schools, infrastructural development is one of the key achievement of any head of institution,” said Mitei.

The Acting CEO also called upon school heads to ensure school enrolment improve in their schools adding that school is about learners and when learners are reducing from one year to another year it means there is a problem.

“The steady and purposeful rise in the enrolment of learners in any school is a key achievement the commission can see in various schools, when enrolment is improving it means the school head perform their duties well; while when enrolment of a school is decreasing it means something is wrong somewhere,” said Mitei.

Mitei further called for unity among school heads, teachers, BOM and parents together with other stakeholders for the improvement of academic standards.

She also encouraged parents to support the schools as a key stakeholders in the learners education achievement, urging learners to maintain high standards of moral integrity which is a key in their academic improvement

“We encourage all our learners in all our schools in the country to have high standard of discipline and emotional maturity because it is a key to success in their education journey,” said Mitei.

She called for spiritual nourishment among learners from qualified clergy who, she said should talk to learners regularly and encourage them to have good characters and discipline.

Mitei also called for strong participation of all education stakeholders in the fight against the vices of teenage pregnancy, drug abuse which have led to poor academic performance of school children in the country.

She thanked teachers who are tirelessly preforming their duties and making students get good grades.

“The TSC thanks all teachers for teaching with a purpose. Getting those quality grades is not easy. It takes effort, it take sacrifice, and we appreciate you as a commission,” said Mitei.
