Principal Secretary Education Dr Belio Kipsang has lauded efforts by Baringo residents to uplift education sector in the county.
Dr Belio Kipsang who spoke during dissemination of fourth Medium Term Plan (MTP) meeting hosted by Cooperative and Micro Small and Medium Enterprises Simon Chelugui at Kenya School of Government Baringo said the county notwithstanding challenges managed to perform well in the last year’s KCSE.
The PS noted that 24 per cent of the candidates joined various public universities across the country to beat national average of 22 per cent despite challenges of insecurity and disadvantaged by floods.

He said 42 per cent of students from the county according to figures and statistics in last year’s examination managed to join tertiary institutions increasing number of learners progressing to next level of learning to 70 per cent.
“The government is determined and committed to address teething challenges affecting education sector as pledged by Kenya Kwanza to ensure the quarter thrive. We are working with county governments and education stake holders to uproot the barriers,’’ said the Education Principal Secretary Dr Belio Kipsang.
The educationist stated that government has already deployed more security personnel to quell incessant spate of attacks in volatile areas.
He said government through the Ministry of Education is set to build 16,000 classrooms for Grade 9 learners in January next year.
Dr Kipsang said Baringo County is set to benefit 200 classrooms to advance the Junior Secondary School education.
