Education Director challenges Kuresoi South: Ensure All Girls Return to School Next Year

Education Stakeholders in Kuresoi South. Parents in Kuresoi South, Nakuru County urged to ensure all girls return to school next year.

Area Director of Education Donets Atieno says the area has reported a high number of school drop-outs, a situation she noted should be avoided.

According to Atieno, girls face numerous academic threats compared to boys, hence should closely be protected.

“This area has reported a high number of children dropping out of school, with girls being the most affected. This is worrying and there was the need to address this problem,” she noted.

Speaking at Kapsumbeywo High School, she told parents to take full responsibility, observing that girls should return to school in the same condition they went home.

She described early pregnancies and marriages as major challenges in the region, issuing a stern warning to men involved in the vices that they will severely be dealt with.

Atieno, who was accompanied by other Education officials from the area, also cautioned parents against aiding the vices, stating that the ministry together with the area MP’s office is taking the matter seriously.

“We don’t want the idea of Kuresoi leading in cases of early pregnancies and marriages. We also want to tell our parents never to participate in the same because we have heard of some parents accepting this that they release their girls when they are still very young to get married of which we are going to destroy the generation to come. This is not a joke, we are taking it seriously as an education office and even with our area MP,” added Atieno.

Women leaders from the area on their part stated the effects of retrogressive practices, observing that girls should be protected from such at all costs.
