Education CS vows to transit all KCPE candidates to secondary school

Ministry of Education Cabinet Secretary, Ezekiel Machogu

Education Cabinet Secretary (CS) Ezekiel Machogu has promised that not one of the 1,406,557 KCPE candidates this year will miss secondary school admission.

He further said that 9,354 candidates who missed out due to various reasons will sit a special examination in January 2024 in a bid to realize the 100 per cent transition of learners into secondary school.

This will also give them another chance as the last group of 8-4-4, considering that there is no option to repeat the class.

He said with the exit of 8-4-4, they are now ready to fully equip the junior secondary with requisite materials to implement the new curriculum.

Prof  Machogu revealed that over 26 million  learners have gone through 8-4-4 established in 1985, saluting the late presidents of the republic Daniel arap Moi and Mwai Kibaki for tirelessly supporting the outgoing curriculum to its success.

“We can report that 8-4-4 served this country immensely well. We call upon our partners, parents and other stakeholders to further fully support the paradigm shift in the 8-4-4 education system into the Competency-Based  Curriculum (CBC),” he added.

The CS thanked the Interior ministry, exam centre managers and supervisors for discharging their duties satisfactorily during examination period.

He was happy that despite the heavy rains across the country, the examinations delivery to the over 700 examinations centres was not affected.
