The government is committed to ensuring provision of adequate facilities in learning institutions countrywide, says Ministry of Education Cabinet Secretary Prof George Magoha.

He said it was the government’s responsibility to provide a conducive atmosphere in learning institutions that will enable learners to achieve their dreams.

While inspecting Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) classrooms in Migori County, the CS pledged the government’s commitment to ensuring a 100 per cent transition of Grade 6 learners to junior secondary come January next year.

He said form one students currently occupying CBC classrooms will be relocated, and directed principals and Boards of Management (BoM) to take the necessary steps to ensure that learning is not interrupted during the transition.

The CS expressed satisfaction at the work done in schools he had visited and urged parents to co-operate with the government to ensure quality education is achieved.

Prof Magoha, who was accompanied by Principal Secretary (PS) for Early Learning Dr. Julius Jwan dispelled fears that the new curriculum will fail, urging Kenyans not to politicize education.

He invited private schools and entrepreneurs to invest in junior secondary schools, noting that the government was almost achieving its target of 10,000 classrooms.

He at the same time warned heads of institutions not to dally with naysayers but stick to the ministry’s guidelines to ensure quality learning.

He instructed directors at various sub-counties to maintain their supervisory roles and report every development to their senior officers.
