Education CS assures of examination integrity

Education Cabinet Secretary Prof. George Magoha while touring exam centers within Migori, Kisii and Nyamira counties on day seven of the national exams insists the integrity of the ongoing exams remains intact.

His sentiments come despite several arrests that have been made by the police across the country over alleged malpractice in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education exam.

The CS dismissed allegations that exams circulating on social media are the actual exams set by the Kenya National Examination Council.

He urged teachers and parents not to be cheated through the social media platforms with fake exam papers as this would cause confusion among the candidates.

“The integrity of the ongoing national exams is not questionable and therefore parents and teachers should allow the students to write what they know rather than confusing them with fake exams,” said Magoha.

He noted the exam materials are only opened at the exam centres.

“The second exam is the one always under attack but we have always advised people to take note the papers being circulated. It is quite shameful that we still have people who believe them and are lured in exam irregularities”, added Magoha.

He encouraged candidates to do the exam according to their ability rather than being cheated with fake papers and other materials during this period.

He noted that Ministry of Education officials have been able to block possibilities of sharing of the exam materials through all channels.

Magoha also mentioned that some students have been assisted by examination officials to smuggle in mobile phones into the examination rooms.
