Education boss warns politicians against using students in campaigns

Kisii County Education Board chairman Prof Henry Onderi has warned politicians against using students in their political campaigns.

Speaking in Kisii town, the chairman appealed to the police to apprehend politicians and their agents who use school children for political gains.

“These children are supposed to be at school but some politicians have taken advantage of their economic misery and ignorance to misuse them at the expense of their education.” he said.

The chairman reminded politicians that other than being leaders, they are also parents who should safeguard the children’s welfare.

He asked every parent to accompany their kid to school to deter them from participating in the frenzied campaign wagons.

“Children are adventurous by nature and I call upon parents to guide and protect them at all costs,” said Prof Onderi.

Prof. Onderi further asked the campaigners to minimize noise and chaos during their campaigns when in the vicinity of schools to avoid disturbing learners from their studies.

He appealed to chiefs and their assistants to be on the watch and report any students  seen participating in campaigns to the relevant authorities for disciplinary action to be taken.
