Kisii County Education Board chairman Prof Henry Onderi has asked contractors of Competency Based Classrooms (CBC) classrooms to put more efforts in ensuring the classrooms are completed by the end of this month.
The chairman said the classes meant for CBC pupils in junior secondary schools should be completed early because the contractors won’t be allowed into institutions once Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) and Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exams begin.
The don was reacting to the remarks made by the Principal Secretary State Department for Early Learning Dr Julian Juan who had pointed out that vacant primary class rooms will be used to
host junior secondary school learners if there won’t be enough space to accommodate them in the secondary section.
He thanked the government for its efforts in financing infrastructural projects in schools and asked various school management committees to be transparent in handling cash for the projects.
‘Those found misusing government funds will face the full arm of the law,’ he warned.
He asked the county information officers, chiefs and their assistants to help the county directors monitor education projects in the regions.
‘Educational development is a common responsibility that needs the involvement of all stakeholders.” He said.
