Machakos gubernatorial aspirant Johnson Muthama says Education And Health Ministries should be headed by the national government.
Speaking at his home in Tala, Matungulu sub county Muthama noted that the two ministries are critical and cannot be managed by county governments.
The vibrant politician observed that although many counties are trying their best, it has become obvious that it was a grave mistake to devolve the two sectors.
“By the look of things these two sectors should not be devolved. The affairs of the two should be handled by the national government if at all we want them to impact the citizens positively,” said Muthama.
“If William Ruto becomes president I will ensure this matter is taken to parliament as a bill and passed,” he added.
Muthama had met over 600 primary teachers drawn from Kangundo and Matungulu sub-county who vowed to support his bid.
While promising to award teachers and schools producing good grades in the county, Muthama also promised to launch an extensive free feeding program in all primary schools in his jurisdiction.
Muthama confirmed that the feeding programme he launched is fairing well disclosing that 23 wards were yet to be included in the programme.
“I’m not giving the food to get votes, it’s because I understand how things are, there is hunger and the pupils are feeling the heat that’s why I will supply every primary school with food and if I am elected I will launch an extensive feeding program,” he noted.
