The Kisii County Assembly approved the 2025-2026 Budget for the county’s development and expenditure on Wednesday, 18 June 2025.

According to Assembly Budget Committee Chairman Peter Otachi, the country will allocate a total of KSh 18 billion during the 2025-2026 Fiscal Year.

He said that shillings 1 billion will be used to finance the Early Childhood Development (ECDE) feeding programme, as the rest will be allocated according to other urgent development needs.

“Other Counties have initiated the feeding programmes in their areas successfully, and we have no reason not to start it to benefit our children,” he said.

The chairman stated that the lion’s share of the budget, amounting to KShs 11 billion, will be allocated towards paying the salaries of various departments. In contrast, the remaining KShs 5 billion will be distributed evenly to other areas in need, with a focus on developing the residents.

He stated that the budget covered most of the development projects in his ward, which included the expansion and equipping of hospital facilities, totalling Ksh 57 million.
