Lower Eastern schools register improvement in 2023 KCSE results

Makueni County schools have registered improved performance in the 2023 KCSE exams with the giant Makueni Boys High School leading the pack with a mean score of 8.912, up from 8.371 in 2022.

Speaking joyously in his office, Chief Principal Francis Mutua noted that they had a candidature of 377 and 344 have managed to transit to university.

“We got 14 A plain, 67 A minus, 79 B plus, 64 B plain, 67 B minus and 53 C plus. I’m extremely happy for the improvement index of 0.521, and a 91.24 percent transition to university is not a joke,” he said.

He attributed the performance to commitment and devotion of teachers and cooperation by parents, adding that the class was one of the best in terms of discipline and hard work.

Precious Blood Kilungu also realized improved results, scoring a mean grade of 8.22 up from 7.91.

With a candidature of 206, Principal Esther Njue was happy for the impressive improvement, where 2 candidates had A plain, 13 had A minus, 28 B plus, 48 B plain, 54 B minus and 32 C plus.

86 of them will be transiting to university leaving behind 29 candidates.

“We will work hard to attain even more. Our target is 9.0 and we are sure we will surpass it with hard work as embodied by our motto; ‘kujituma’,” she said.

Mwaani Girls also saw a spike in performance which saw them attain the first A minus in ten years.

Speaking on behalf of Chief Principal Dr. Mutinda Elizabeth, Deputy Anne Boore noted that since 2013 the school has not scored grade A.

“We are grateful and will work hard to ensure that there are many grade As in our school from now on,” she said.

The new, recently transferred from Mukaa Girls High School, added that she was happy to find a school that is doing well.

“The tabulation is upward and I will make Mwaani continue shining even more,” Dr. Mutinda said.
