Regional champions will put their titles on the line when Eastern and Coast region Term Two games begin in Machakos and Voi.

At stake are bragging rights and tickets to this year’s Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSSA) Term Two games set for Kakamega High School from August 8 to 12.

Regional winners from last year’s games will be wary lest they fall like their counterparts across the country who have already been eliminated and will not be defending their titles.

In the Eastern region, all eyes will be on the queen of secondary schools volleyball Kwanzanthe who has dominated the sport and even conquered Africa last year.

The reigning Africa volleyball champions will capitalize on home advantage when they take on Meru County’s Kirigara Girls in their opening Group B match to be played at Machakos School.

In another Group B match, Kitui’s Ilika Secondary School will play Tharaka Nithi’s Iruma Girls.

In Group A, St Anne Kiriari launches their title hunt against Marsabit champions Moi Girls Marsabit while Makueni’s Kathamboni will tackle Isiolo’s St Mary’s.

New champions will be crowned in boys’ volleyball, football, and netball after last year’s winners Kaundu, Mbooni Boys and Katwala failed to advance to the regionals.

Kibauni Secondary School will be out to defend their girls’ football title.

Coast region boys football champions Serani Secondary School from Mombasa County will face off with Kenyatta High School in their opening Group A encounter at Mwangea Lower ground.

Serani are looking to retain their title, return to the nationals and improve on last year’s performance to qualify for the East Africa games set for Huye, Rwanda.

Shimba Hills from Kwale will clash with Lamu’s Mokowe Secondary School in another Group A tie.

Dr Aggrey High School from Taita Taveta County will entertain Vitengeni High School from Kilifi in their opening Group B match and Mwangea Upper ground whereas Tana River’s Chanani Mixed will play Hadija Secondary from Mombasa.

Coast will crown new girls champions in the absence of last year’s winners and former national holders St John’s Kaloleni.
