Drama as irate Homabay students beat up Principal in food row

Students in Homa Bay have beaten up their school Principal Collins Omondi claiming that he served then porridge without sugar.

The Kenya Secondary Schools Heads Association (KESSHA) demanded the education ministry officials and the police to apprehend the students responsible for the assault.

Suba Branch Subcounty chairman, Paul Mbaru, reported that enraged students went to the principal’s residence, requesting him to accompany them to the police station to explain why the school had served them porridge without sugar.

When he hesitated, they resorted to physically attacking him, alleging his rudeness and mismanagement of the school.

Law enforcement intervened, rescuing the principal and providing medical treatment for his injuries.

The injured principal declined to provide detailed comments and referred inquiries to education officials.

Hospital reports indicated he suffered chest pains and strained hands but assured the public that he was no longer in danger.

HomaBay County Police Commander, Samson Kinne, confirmed the incident and expressed regret that it occurred during the examination period.

He appealed to students to seek resolution through peaceful dialogue and maintain respect for their teachers.

The investigation is ongoing, and it is imperative that students exercise restraint and respect for authority figures.
