DP Ruto urges youths to embrace technical training

Deputy President William Ruto has called upon the youth to enroll in technical institutions in a bid to acquire skills required to propel the country’s economic growth.
Ruto said the country is geared towards industrialisation and underscored the need for technical skills and know how.
Speaking in Moi Girls Kapsowar, the Deputy President said the Government is committed to establishing technical institutes and equipping the existing ones to produce skilled labour force.
Ruto singled out the Jubilee Government’s ‘Big 4’ Agenda on manufacturing saying the blue print requires technicians to run the industries.
“Technical skills are required to propel the country’s economy. The Jubilee administration is working on the ‘Big Four’ Agenda, which require technicians in the manufacturing sector. This agenda is anchored on men and women with technical skills”, remarked the DP.
He at the same time said the Ministry of Education has been asked to review the technical curriculum to modular programme so as to allow students work as they learn in the institutions.
On financing technical education, Ruto said the Government has channeled money to the Higher Education Loans Board to be disbursed to students in technical institutions.
He said four technical institutions have been established and equipped in Elgeyo Marakwet County encouraging the youth to take advantage of the Government initiative to acquire the skills.
