By Kiptanui Rutto

Deputy President William Ruto today held a meeting with officials of the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) department, Ministry of Education at Karen, Nairobi.

Speaking during the meeting, the DP said the vocational training industry must relook its structure including the curriculum and college fees that is presently rigid and prohibitive.

“We need to restructure our TVET curriculum and the fees to allow Kenyans from all walks to access technical education with ease. The current structure is rigid,” he said.

Ruto said we require a flexible, progressive, dynamic new system that will attract new entrants; provide learning opportunities for all; impart knowledge and skills to promote youth employment, entrepreneurship, innovation and drive our Big Four agenda.

The meeting was attended by State Department for Vocational Training PS, Dr Kevit Desai, Technical Training Director, Dr Meshack Opwora, TSC CEO Nancy Macharia among other officials.
