Double tragedy: Girl who recited poem to DP Ruto injures her legs

BY ANDANJE WAKHUNGU

Her expectations to visit the Deputy President William Ruto at his home after reciting for him a poem when he  toured the sub-county has fizzled out as fast as her  dreams being turned into fantasy.

And she keeps on wondering why her life has all over a sudden on a roller coaster to doom just within a blink of an eye, but she is determined and hopeful that soon all this will be over and she will be able to open a new chapter in her life that will steer her into realizing her dreams, this is Miriam Albright Mukambuli.

The sadness and anguish in this young ambitious lady is unexplainable when one hears her plea to get medical attention not only to rejoin her colleagues at Notre Dame Education centre, but accomplish her desire to step in the residence of Dr. William Ruto, it flashbacks ones memories when at that age eagerness and anxiety was all you had until your mission was accomplished.

“How does it feel when that big man we see on TV tells you to go and visit him then when you and your family are planning that important journey, the un expected happens ,but I will meet him very soon because my God is speaking to me that all shall be well”, she narrated.

The ten year old grade 5 girl who has broken both legs within a span of 6 months in what many term as bizarre is currently undergoing physiotherapy at home after being discharged from Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital Eldoret where she has been hospitalized for the last three months for the second time following her left leg accident which occurred in school shortly after her resumption of schooling having spent several months in the same hospital nursing her first accident.

The now disillusioned young girl who laments that she misses school is wondering why on earth bad luck has been lurking behind her now and then just after she was to meet one of the biggest people she would have wished to and cries out to God to quickly heal her so that she can walk again.

Her father Isaiah Mukambuli Ford has expressed his dismay following the unexpected and life threatening experience her daughter is going through and prays that all shall be well soon though he is tasked with a huge financial backlog that needs to be settled as doctors continue conducting physiotherapy on her on a daily basis until she can be able to walk normally again.

“We thank the Almighty for his grace on her and we are sure that she being an innocent soul, will find peace of mind and her dreams become valid but our fear is how we will be able to raise cash to pay for her treatment and still much more take her to Aga KhanHospital in Kisumu for bone marrow diagnosis to establish the type of bones she possesses following her double tragedy that saw her break her legs simultaneously.

Ford sadly explains how his journey in treating her daughter has exhausted all his meager savings and turned him into a beggar as he has nothing tangible left to sell and raise funds towards the treatment.

He says he has done his best to give her daughter the necessary required treatment.

“I have already spent over Sh360,000 and still counting as the ongoing physiotherapy is yet to be known how much it will cost and still our visit to Aga Khan needs at least Sh100, 000 and I’m totally perturbed by all these ongoing as  I have no other source of income.

“I am humbly calling on the deputy President who was impressed by the girl’s bold nature of reciting poems and even welcomed our family to his home to remember her during this time of need as she keeps on crying asking when she will be able to walk again so that she can go visit him.
