Don’t scrap it: Head teachers, chiefs and residents give testimonies of success story of NG-CDF

North Imenti MP Rahim Dawood.
Chiefs, residents and headteachers have defended the abolishment of the National Government Constituency Development Fund (NG-CDF).
Several headteachers who spoke during a public participation at the NG-CDF offices in North Imenti in the company of area MP Rahim Dawood and nominated MP Dorothy Muthoni said it would be painful if the fund is not entirely controlled by MPs.
Muthoni lauded MP Dawood for the construction of classes at Gitoro Primary school, where she schooled.
“I am not campaigning for these funds, but due to their impact from very transparent bursaries issuance, construction of classes and police posts and stations built using these funds. It should even be increased.  Dawood has done an exemplary job, and I am sure North Imenti electorates will re-elect him. We are supporting you till the day you will willingly leave the seat,” Muthoni said.
Dawood said he would not channel any NG-CDF money from his kitty to his pockets, noting that developments would continue to trickle to Mwananchi.
“We are not fighting governors or counties, and they have their own mandates. Once the fund is enshrined in the constitution, no court will overturn the people’s decision,” Dawood said.

Gilbert Mutwiri said the NG-CDF has permanently changed the face of the school he heads for the better.
“The MP built us classes, installed tiles, dug and built toilets and constructed a modern dining hall. It was tiresome and expensive for me to reach out to the ministry to build toilets. When I approached the MP, the toilets were constructed immediately. I oppose scrapping of the funds in totality,” he said.
Another from Mwiteria Primary School hailed MP Dawood, saying the institution has undergone great transformation not only through bursaries but also through the construction of the dining hall, classes, and other amenities.
“If there is no bursary, as a student at Gachanka Day School, I would never accomplish my education. We had very dilapidated structures,” a beneficiary of NG-CDF told the panel collecting residents’ views on the constitution amendment bill before the parliament over NG-CDF, (National Government Affirmative Action Fund (NGAAF) money and Senate oversight funds.
The court declared the NG-CDF funds unconstitutional.
