Don’t pressurise children too much to pass exams

By Asa Maina

Parents and teachers have been advised not to put too much pressure on learners to pass exams as this could be contributing to unrest in schools.
The Director King’s Medical College Moses Njue said the pressure could be the reason why many learners commit suicide after failing in exams or end up doing very hopeless things.
Njue said there is a mentality in many people that children should not fail in examinations.
He said currently students are not trained to value hard work and integrity but parents and teachers are after grades putting pressure for the students to get As and Bs.
He spoke during the institution’s 15th graduation ceremony held at Nyange area in Kieni Constituency, Nyeri County recently.
About 70 students graduated with certificates and diplomas in Medical Laboratory Science and Clinical Medicine.
