Do not neglect the boy child, warns KNUT official

Mwingi branch Knut Executive secretary Michael Munyasya Mbutu has raised concern over negligence of boy child as exemplified by the KCPE performance released the other day.

Mbutu said the policies that are being churned out are not catering for boy child and that much of the emphasis have been put in girls.

The official called for equal treatment of the both gender adding that many boys may miss in the top positions in future if this continues.

He expressed his worry that if the society doesn’t take care, in future there might be so many single parents since the empowered girl child might not find a suitor who is in her level.

“Girls have been empowered greatly and one wonders who will be there to marry our girls in future. That’s one thing we ought to interrogate and ask ourselves. Most of the boys are indulging in vices like miraa/ muguka chewing and some end up dropping out of schools”, said Mbutu

The unionist observed that it is high time the government come up with policies which will cater for the boy child.

He appealed to the state to put all the resources, energy and think deeper to know what is supposed to be done with the boys before it is too late.
