The Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET) in Makueni County has called upon the ministry of education to hasten dispatching secondary school capitation to avert crisis.

Speaking at his Wote office the area union’s executive secretary Justus Kimeu observed that from the start of the year government has only released sh13,000 per student yet it’s supposed to disburse sh22,000 making schools to operate on debts throughout.

“Schools are suffering. They have problems in paying debts, buying books and other expenses thus straining a lot.” Kimeu said

He observed that schools want to prepare in advance for the coming national exams in April since the last minute rush may be detrimental

Kimeu however, called upon school heads to be patient as they waited for the money from the government for smooth running of the schools.

“The principals have been trying to have alternative sources of funds including sending students home for school fees.

We know schools can’t be run without resources but kindly I request you to be patient until the money is released,” Unionists.
