Gucha Sub County Director of Education Mr. David Ayoko has expressed his satisfaction regarding preparation towards the forthcoming national examinations.

Speaking at his Ogembo office, the officer told all stakeholders to cooperate to see the exercise end successfully.

“I appeal to all education stakeholders to give candidates and teachers ample time during the examination period,” he said.

The officer revealed that 1,215 candidates will sit for KCSE from 22 centres while 2,826 candidates will sit for KCPE from 62 centres.

Ayoko noted that six secondary and five primary school candidates were expectant mothers and that his office shall provide adequate emergency services on standby.

The Director decried the disparity between the number of male and female candidates and attributed it to high teenage pregnancies that contributed to girls dropping out of school.

The officer said that the sub county posted a mean of 3.45 in the 2021 KCSE examinations and expressed hope of doing better.

He appreciated the efforts of schools such as Tendere Boys, St. Angela Sengera Girls and Nyataro which posted impressive mean scores of 6.05, 5.9 and 5.5 respectively in the 2021 KCSE exams and appealed to other schools to follow their example.
