Didmus Barasa unveils JSS centres, school buses and rewards for Kimilili teachers

Didmus Barasa meets head teachers from Kimilili after the constituency emerged top in Bungoma County, announcing plans for new junior secondary school centres, school buses, and rewards for academic excellence.

Kimilili Member of Parliament Didmus Barasa has announced a raft of education-focused initiatives aimed at strengthening learning outcomes in the constituency, following Kimilili’s top performance in Bungoma County.

In a message shared on his official Facebook page, the MP said he held consultative talks with head teachers from the constituency, whom he congratulated for their outstanding performance.

“This afternoon, I met with Kimilili head teachers to congratulate them for emerging Number One in Bungoma County,” Barasa said.

The MP added, “We agreed to establish two state-of-the-art JSS centres in every ward, provide one school bus per ward, and reward excellence with a five-day Mombasa holiday for head teachers.”

In a move to recognise sustained excellence at the primary level, the MP announced a special reward for the staff of FYM Primary School, which has consistently topped performance rankings over the past five years.

“We also resolved to charter a flight for Kimilili FYM Primary School staff to Diani in January, in recognition of their five-year record as the best public primary school.”

Barasa alos pointed out that the engagement with school heads also contributed to national education policy discussions, particularly his proposed legislative reforms targeting the Teachers Service Commission (TSC).

“I further tapped into their expertise to strengthen my Bill on TSC recomposition, ensuring inclusive representation of parents, KEPSHA, KESSHW, KNUT, and KUPPET.”
