Residents of Nyando in Kisumu County have been left in shock following an alleged murder of a Deputy Principal by her 27-year-old son on Saturday, August 20th.
The Migingo Girls Secondary School Deputy Principal Roselyn Nyawanda was killed by the suspect who later burnt her body at the institution’s teachers’ quarters.
Nyanza Regional Police Commander Karanja Muiruri confirmed the incident revealing that the suspect had already been detained at Ahero police station and was set for questioning.
Sources indicated that the suspect used a knife to stab his mother and set the body on fire in the bathroom moments after committing the heinous act.
The body was found on Sunday, August 21st when one of her colleagues went to check on her in the house.
Police said that the suspect was a mentally unstable drug addict who was known for causing trouble in the region.
They took crucial items believed to have been used by the suspect including a lantern lamp that contained kerosene to assist in investigations before taking her body to Star Annex mortuary.
