Busia county Deputy Governor Arthur Odera has promised to support needy students with access to education by issuing them with bursaries.
Speaking during a parents’ meeting at Moding High School in Teso North, Odera said the new administration aims to reduce the cases of students wasting time at home due to lack of school fees.
“We will support parents who are unable to pay school fees for their children by issuing bursaries. We strive to develop the education sector in both primary and secondary schools,” he added.
The deputy governor said that for the education standards in the region to improve, parents, teachers and learners should incorporate the spirit of working together as a team.
“To produce people who will enhance development, residents and other stakeholders must invest heavily in education. With an educated population, the county will boast of people with diverse expertise needed to support development.” he added.
He added that through education, Busia residents will get a chance to lay out the projects they want to be done in their area.
