Delay in release of promotion letters causing jitters at the TSC Sub County offices

TSC CEO Dr Nancy Macharia

All is not well in many TSC sub-county offices across the country, as promoted teachers in the January interviews incessantly throng them to inquire about the fate of their letters. The TSC Sub-county officers have reported daily visits by teachers who claim their TSC numbers were listed on the commission’s website as successful.

Despite attempts by the officers to communicate with head teachers and principals about the need for teachers to practice patience as they wait for official communication from the office, the teachers who appear doubtful have continued to visit various TSC offices to inquire about the delayed release of promotion letters.

Speaking to Education News, the concerned teachers pointed fingers at the members of parliament over their claim of biased promotion of teachers.

“I have stagnated in job group C1 for a long time. I am now among those who succeeded. Where do biases arise from?” replied a teacher in Migori County.

Admonishing TSC while attending the funeral of Charles Tariwot Barchigei in Nandi North Sub-county, Tinderet Member of Parliament and Education Committee Chair in the National Assembly, Julius Melly, said that his committee couldn’t allow the Commission to promote some teachers six months after another promotion, while the rest stagnated.

TSC halted releasing letters to successful teachers after parliamentarians questioned the integrity of the entire process and demanded a forensic audit before giving it a clean bill.

TSC CEO Dr Nancy Macharia has maintained that the whole process was conducted following the policy and was, according to her, a free and fair exercise.
