There were delays at the start of several matches at the KSSSA Term One National Games in Kisumu, resulting in results coming in later than scheduled.

According to officials, the delay was primarily due to the verification of players’ eligibility.

Before the games could commence, all team members had to undergo thorough checks to ensure they met the required criteria to participate.

This measure was aimed at maintaining fairness and integrity in the competitions.

The verification process involved cross-checking players’ registration documents, confirming ages and school enrollment, and ensuring that no ineligible players were fielded.

The officials emphasised that this step, although time-consuming, is essential to prevent any disputes or disqualifications later in the tournament.

As a result of the extended verification, some matches began later than initially planned, which subsequently affected the timing of score announcements and result announcements.

The organising committee reassured fans and teams that the delay would not compromise the quality of the games and that all matches would proceed according to adjusted schedules.

Officials also expressed gratitude to team managers, coaches, and spectators for their patience and understanding during the verification process.
