Defence PS urges parents to educate their children for better future

The Defence Principal Secretary Dr.Patrick Mariru has urged parents in Kenya to invest in education of their children in order to better their future and make them responsible citizens.

Speaking in Njonjo Girls Senior School in Laikipia County during the School’s Price Giving Day ceremony, Dr. Mariru said education is the only Asset that a parent can offer as gift to their children in the modern world.

The PS said parents should be ready to sacrifice their resources to give their sons and daughters an opportunity to get quality education.

He advised them that they should not view education as an expensive investment, but rather a lifetime treasure that will change the family and community at large.

“It is your key priority to educate your children from Primary school, Junior School, Senior School and University so that they can acquire quality education which will change their lives positively.” He said

“As parents it is our main responsibility to invest in educating our boys and girls, we should take good care of them as we give them instructions and advice that can mould their lives and make them have positive characters,” PS added.

He also advised parents to always spend time with their children and frankly discuss with them the impact of life so that they understand the modern world positively.

“As parents we should create adequate time with our children especially during this holidays. Let us talk to our children freely and positively as we give them an opportunity to also talk to us freely.” He noted.

He added that this will enable them understand the world, reason positively and make sound mind decisions.

The PS called on university students in to use their time well and ensure any decision they make do not destruct their future careers but rather add value into their lives.
