A decline has been seen in the performance in subjects that were done in the afternoon, Education Cabinet Secretary (CS) Ezekiel Machogu revealed during the release of the 2023 KCSE.
The CS observed that this is because there was little early exposure to those examinations as opposed to the previous years when all papers for the day were collected and kept in school once in the morning.
For the very first time, History and Government dropped significantly, as were Geography and Agriculture.
They were traditionally done in the morning but were moved to the afternoon this year.
Other subjects that dropped in performance are General Science, Physics, Computer and Business Studies.
Others are Islamic Religion, Power Mechanics, Metal Work, Wood Work, Home Science, Art and Home Science.
However 12 subjects recorded significan improvements. These were Mathematics (for the first time in history of the examination), Kiswahili, Biology, CRE, German, Music ,Chemistry, Building Construction, French and Electricity .
Individual 2023 KCSE candidates will access examination results through the link on the KNEC website, or directly through the URL: www.results.knec.ac.ke.
