The Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) has been asked by Anglican Church of Kenya Arch-Bishop Jackson Ole Sapit to investigate KNEC officials for neglect of duty that resulted in gross errors in KCPE results.
The Arch-Bishop said the time has come for State agencies mandated to perform critical roles to be held to account, saying education of Kenyan children should not be left under the mercy of ineptitude.
He pointed out that complaints have always surfaced after examinations to the point that it has been normalized, advising that to correct this acceptance of anomalies, the people concerned must face the law.
“We cannot allow KNEC officials to play with the lives of our children. It is high time DCI to conducted investigations and bring all culprits of examination irregularity to book,” he said.
He was speaking at Rift Valley Sports Club in Nakuru City during the retirement service for the 5th Bishop of Nakuru Diocese Dr Joseph Muchai, which was attend by over 10 Bishops from various Dioceses in Kenya and representatives of Anglican Church in Uganda and West Africa.
Observing that KNEC has been handled as if it is above the law, he said thousands of Kenya children can only get justice if every candidate gets a grade which represents their academic ability.
Ole Sapit said national examinations are important transition points for children from one level of education to another and should be treated with high levels of integrity and professionalism to safeguard their future.
