Detectives have arrested a 22-year-old university graduate accused of running a digital network that sold fake Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exam papers across the country.
Chrispinus Nandafu Naisuma, who recently completed a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mathematics and Physics at Meru University, was apprehended on October 12 at his residence near the campus after detectives posing as potential tenants gained access to his premises.
According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), Naisuma is suspected to have managed a WhatsApp group named Teachers KNEC Exam 2025, which had more than 1,000 members. The group reportedly operated for nearly two years, distributing counterfeit exam papers at prices ranging between Ksh100 and Ksh1,000.

During the operation, officers recovered 34 SIM cards, eight national identity cards, some belonging to relatives, and several mobile devices believed to have been used to conceal his identity and facilitate the illegal trade.
Naisuma was later presented before Chief Magistrate Lucas Onyina at the Milimani Law Courts but did not take a plea as investigators requested more time to conclude forensic analysis. He was released on a Ksh50,000 cash bail pending further investigations.
Authorities say the arrest is part of a wider crackdown on online exam fraud networks as agencies intensify surveillance to safeguard the integrity of national tests.
