Detectives have arrested four Egerton University students over alleged selling of fake examination papers to KCSE candidates waiting to sit their national examination come December.

According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), the culprits were operating 15 accounts on Whatsapp and Telegram mobile applications where they plied their trade.

They have already defrauded Kenyans Ksh4 million and have been detained awaiting arraignment in Court.

Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) Chief Executive Officer, David Njeng’ere noted that the crew were found with a number of various ATM cards, national identity cards and sim cards.

“At this time of anxiety, students should not be cheated by exam frauds, since no exam leakage will take place. No one has accessed the exam,” he said.

Njeng’ere disclosed that in the 2021 national examination there were no leakages and the same shall apply this year.
