The Catholic University of Eastern Africa (CUEA) on Thursday hosted a colourful and solemn swearing-in ceremony for its newly elected student leadership under the Catholic University of Eastern Africa Students Organisation (CUEASO).

The event, held at the university’s Missio Hall, was presided over by the Vice-Chancellor, Rev. Dr Stephen Mbugua, who officially commissioned the new team into office.

In his address, Rev. Dr Mbugua commended the outgoing leaders for their dedication and contribution to the student body, noting that their efforts had fostered unity and progress across the university.

He reminded the incoming officials that leadership, especially within a faith-based institution, is not merely a title but a responsibility anchored in service, integrity, and humility.

“Leadership is not about position but service,” Rev. Dr Mbugua said.

He added: “I urge you to be instruments of unity and peace within the university community and always to put the interests of students above personal ambition.”

The newly sworn-in team will be responsible for steering student affairs in the coming academic year, representing the interests of the university’s diverse student body, and promoting educational, social, and spiritual welfare among their peers.
