Education Cabinet Secretary Prof. George Magoha has sounded a stern warning to anyone, especially teachers who will be found aiding exam cheating or maliciously sharing the papers.
Magoha, who spoke yesterday during the opening of examinations’ container and monitoring of distribution exercise of examination materials in Kakamega said it would be shameful for bonafide teachers to be waiting to receive the examinations for them to share out.
“We are watching them closely. The exam integrity has been at the top since 2016, why do you want to take it down to where it used to be before. We are watching and we’ll not allow this exam to be messed up,” Magoha warned.
He asked the examination officers inspecting the exercise across the country to focus on the integrity of the second paper of the day because there is much time that may allow malice to take place in between, adding that there was a group of teachers who wanted to confuse the candidates.
Magoha also assured that the government has taken all precautions in insecurity prone area especially in Baringo: “We have at this point ensured that the children are converged together in safe areas where they are able to stay and be fed and do the exams before they can be dispatched to their respective homes.
Over 1.2 million candidates sitting the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) examinations are on the second day of the exercise.
