Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba toured Litein Boys High School, Kericho County on Monday morning, to assess ongoing renovations following recent unrest and arson incidents that damaged key facilities ahead of the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations.
The visit came weeks after the school was hit by student unrest that disrupted learning and raised concerns over the preparedness and welfare of candidates expected to sit for the national examinations in the coming days.
Speaking during the inspection, CS Ogamba reaffirmed the government’s commitment to ensuring that all learners sit their exams in a safe and conducive environment. He said the Ministry of Education, working with relevant agencies, had prioritized the repair of damaged infrastructure to ensure learning resumed smoothly.

“The government is keen on ensuring that no student’s education is disrupted by indiscipline or destruction of property. We are working with all stakeholders to make sure that candidates have a peaceful and enabling atmosphere as they prepare for their exams,” said Ogamba.
The CS further emphasized the importance of discipline, mutual respect, and a sense of responsibility among students.
He noted that acts of unrest not only cause financial losses but also compromise academic progress and the safety of learners.
“We will continue engaging parents, teachers, and learners to promote discipline, respect for others, and care for property in all our schools,” he added.
