CS Ogamba opens 2025 KEPSHA National delegates conference in Mombasa

Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba officially opens the 2025 KEPSHA National Delegates Conference in Mombasa.

Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba has today officially opened the 2025 Kenya Primary School Heads Association (KEPSHA) National Delegates Conference at the Sheikh Ali Zayed Children’s Home in Mombasa.

Speaking on behalf of President Dr William Samoei Ruto, the CS lauded primary school headteachers for their dedication and leadership in managing the country’s foundational education system.

The week-long conference has brought together primary school heads from across Kenya to deliberate on key issues affecting basic education and to share best practices in school leadership, management, and the implementation of the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC).

CS Ogamba emphasised that headteachers play a central role in shaping the success of educational reforms and ensuring that every child receives quality learning experiences.

“Our headteachers are the backbone of our education system. Their leadership determines the success of the Competency-Based Curriculum and the future of our learners,” he said.

Several senior education leaders, including the Principal Secretary for Basic Education, attended the event. Prof. Julius Bitok; Mombasa Governor H.E. Abdulswamad Nassir; the Chairperson of the National Assembly’s Education Committee, Hon. Julius Melly; the Chairperson of the Teachers Service Commission, Dr Jamleck Muturi; and the Acting CEO of TSC, Ms Evaleen Mitei

The conference in the Coastal City will focus on topics such as resource management, school leadership, teacher welfare, digital transformation, and inclusive education,intended at strengthening the delivery of basic education in Kenya.
