Cabinet Secretary for Education, Julius Ogamba, has acknowledged delays in the disbursement of capitation funds to schools.
He asked school heads to remain patient in the face of occasional discrepancies and assured them of a commitment to efficiency in fund distribution.
“Even in our homes, sometimes we can miss salt or sugar, but that does not mean the whole family will keep blaming the situation but join hands and cook bananas to enable them to face another day for life to continue,” he said.
He lauded Homa Bay County residents and parents for supporting strong educational foundations.
The CS told them about the government’s commitment to providing equitable and quality education services in the country but reminded them that none will come from outside to reconstruct our nation through patriotism, which leads to national prosperity.
“Communities stand in a better position to advise the government about what is best for them and join hands with the government to walk towards it, and this why the government introduced the bottom-up approach in her economic recovery policies,” he said.
Homa Bay County Governor Gladys Wanga and County Commissioner Mose Lelan hosted the Cabinet Secretary at Homa Bay Primary School for the launch of five classrooms for Junior Secondary School pupils.

He said that the government has constructed 16,000 modern Junior Secondary School (JSS) classrooms across the country and remained optimistic that the few remaining ones will be completed within the projected time.
He assured heads of schools and parents of enough learning materials that his ministry will continue to reinforce to schools according to their needs.

He caused relaxed laughter when he shared with the pupils and told them that he was once a pupil in the school (indeed, he learned there) and asked them to escort him to his classroom to see if his desk was still there.
On her part, Homa Bay County Governor Wanga thanked the National Government for the gesture.
“Kenya is one government; only the names of National and County Governments exist because of political policies. We are the same people with a shared development agenda,” he said.
Wanga lauded the wide-based government formation and asked the residents to avoid decisive politics because it would thwart development.
