CS Machogu lauds Nyambaria High, dismisses KCSE exam cheating claims

The Cabinet Secretary (CS) for Education Ezekiel Machogu has reiterated his stand that no school stole last year’s KCSE examinations.

In a speech read on his behalf by Nyanza Region Education Director Nelson Sifuna at Nyambaria National High school, Machogu said that the schools that excelled in the examinations had a track record of performing well and therefore it was no surprise over their good performance.

He said that the government will continue supporting individual schools that showed an upward academic trend in the national examinations and asked those that lagged behind to set their houses in order.

The CS sent a cheque of Ksh5 million to assist the school finish the construction of its multipurpose hall that will accommodate 4,000 people after completion.

The function was presided over by Nyamira County Woman Representative Jerusah Momamyi who lauded the school for posting the best examination results in the country and asked the management to find ways of maintaining the performance.

“You can involve alumni of the school to assist you in boosting performance of the school,” she said.

Momanyi asked parents to assist the principal sustain the good record by instilling discipline from home.

Kitutu Masaba Member of Parliament (MP) Ombane Gisairo promised continued support by assisting in the disbursement of the constituency’s NG-CDF fund to assist bright students to continue with their education.

The school Chief Principal Charles Onyari thanked the community for being supportive to the institution to reach where it is.

“It has taken collective responsibility for the school to reach where we are,” he said.

Onyari attributed the sterling performance to hard work and team work from the students, teachers, the community and good will from the leaders.

During the function all 2022 KCSE candidates were rewarded with laptops, smart phones and suitcases.

He asked the current students to emulate their outgoing colleagues and exceed their performance.

Last year, the school presented 411 candidates in the KCSE examinations and all of them qualified to join university with the first 28 students scoring an A plain and the last candidate scoring a B plain pushing the school mean score to 10.8, making it to lead in the national examinations.
