Champions were crowned and new heroes emerged on Saturday morning as the 2026 Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association) National Term One Games concluded in Kisumu County, wrapping up a fiercely contested week of school sports action.
Musingu High School underlined their pedigree in boys’ handball, overpowering Jobo Secondary School 30-19 to clinch the national title. The so-called “Handball Tornadoes” dictated proceedings from the onset, combining swift offensive transitions with a disciplined defensive setup to keep their opponents at bay.
Jobo mounted sporadic resistance, but Musingu’s cohesion and efficiency in front of goal ensured the contest remained firmly under their control en route to a convincing victory.
In the girls’ handball final, Moi Girls Kamusinga retained their crown with a 25-16 win over St. Joseph’s Girls Kitale. Kamusinga exhibited tactical superiority, controlling possession and executing structured attacks that steadily broke down their opponents.

The bronze medal playoff saw Nyakach Girls Secondary School defeat Karai Secondary School 22-17 to secure third place. Both teams booked qualification slots for the forthcoming East Africa Championships.
On the hockey pitch, St. Joseph’s Girls Kitale emerged national champions after edging Nyamira Girls High School 2-1 on penalties following a goalless draw in regulation time. The tightly contested final was defined by defensive resilience before St. Joseph’s converted from the spot to seal victory.
In basketball, Butere Girls High School extended their dominance, defeating Kaya Tiwi Secondary School 60-53 in the girls’ final. Butere maintained composure in a high-pressure encounter, fending off a late surge from Kaya Tiwi to retain the national title.
The Brookside-sponsored games concluded with multiple teams asserting their dominance across disciplines, reinforcing the competitive depth of secondary school sports in Kenya and setting the stage for the upcoming regional championships.
