Education Cabinet Secretary Prof George Magoha has pointed out that Kajiado North Constituency tops in regions that have failed to address shortfall of secondary schools.
The CS said the region has 7,400 students enrolled out of the constituencies they sat their KCPE exams in.
He added that the constituency is followed by Nairobi and Narok counties respectively.
Prof Magoha said the locals are investing more in primary schools leaving many students to seek secondary education outside the region.
The announcement now gives investors a chance to put up secondary schools in the region.
He insisted that over 1.2 million pupils who sat for the 2021 Kenya Certificate of Primary Examination (KCPE) examinations will proceed to high school.
“The government has ensured that there is 100 percent transition from primary to secondary schools,” he said.
He added that they have achieved 100% transition rate from primary to secondary school across the country in two KCPE cohorts: 2019 and 2020.
It is reported that after the 23rd August mop up exercise to ensure 100 % transition, Tana River, Lamu, Nyandarua, Nyeri, Kakamega, Homabay, Nyamira, Migori, Isiolo, Mandera and Kisumu counties recorded more than 100% transition rate.
Tana River recorded 107%, Lamu 104% Nyeri 103%, Isiolo 102% as the other counties recorded 101%.
Prof Magoha talked of the infrastructure in schools and said that the construction of classrooms to support the establishment of Junior Secondary Schools is ongoing. He said the second phase of 3,530 classrooms will be completed between May and August 2022.
